Warhammer Quest - Silver tower painting complete!

As it says in the title, painting complete (well, nearly....) on the really rather nice silver tower figures. First up, the Kairic Acolytes
Basic cannon fodder in the dungeon, the "gifts" of tzeentch are staring to mutate these chaps

Next up are the heroes. Four out of the six in the box painted. I can't work up the energy to do the storm cast chap as yet and the Darkoath chieftain is at the Silverbacks house after he promised to paint him three weeks ago ;)
These are plenty for us to use, especially as we've started using the expanded characters with people bringing their own figures

Next the skaven death-runners
These two are actually one enemy who can replicate himself so you never know who is the real one and who is the illusion.....

And finally, the gaunt summoner and his little familiars
I tried to tie them together by using the same colours across them.

The game itself is great fun, an RPG lite that we don't have to plan too much for and its been really nice to have a clearly defined project to work on that has a decent amount of different miniatures in it (instead of 40 of the same models for a unit) that I've actually been able to get done!

Unfortunately the box isn't quite deep enough to fit the figures in a tray, but they do almost all fit in a tray, so that's not too bad.

Washes really are rather good aren't they!

I'm still plugging away at my DW KoB forces. I finished the tracks last night and managed to get some Badab Black wash on some of them. The effect it has is great.

It makes me wince sometimes seeing the pre-wash colours. They're sooooo gawdy!

One coat of wash and the metals are toned down, details picked out and crevices shaded. Its a long way from blobbing on Humbrol enamels which is how I started painting miniatures back in 19......no lets not dwell on how long its been.

So tonight I'll finish off the black wash and start on the bases.

Managed to get this fella together today. body and legs are pinned as are the arms. You can't see all of them but there are three spindly spines on its back which I nearly left off as i thought they'd be early casualties in the figures case. However.....I persevered and managed to pin all three despite them being only slightly big than the drill bit.

Given that infinity seems to have grabbed me and Urn I suspect that this fella might get a pass to the front of the painting queue.....along with some friends.

Warhammer quest - Silver Tower painting

After the game the other week, I decided that the game looked decent enough for me to sink some painting time into it. I tried to get a balance of speed of painting and having them decent looking and I thought I'd start with the adversaries so I could spend more time on the heroes at the end. First up, the horrors.
Lots of glazes for the blue and yellow ones, pink paint and a wash for the pink horrors.
I rather enjoyed painting them and am pleased with the outcome. After a fair mull I decided to do the bases black as they are game pieces so the old battlefield flock wouldn't really cut it.

Next up, the Tzaangor - Tzeentch beast men
Not come across these chaps yet, but they look nails
Blue glazes for the skin again with contrasting loincloths

Next, the grit scuttlings. Nice and simple.
Base coat, drybrush the black then washes over colour blocks
The red was chosen to help them stand out a little.

The last one completed to date is the Ogre Thaumaturge.
Fantastic model, the blue glazes on the skin really help his tattoos stand out - I could never have done that freehand!

Human acolytes next up, then the heroes and a couple of other bits and pieces. I'm really rather enjoying the variety of figures as they're all cracking sculpts.

When sunshine....

....and free time at work perfectly combine!

The weather gave me a lovely opportunity for me to get a squirt of colour on the crates. I'll take them home now and spend an evening or two on them to finish them off....once I'm done painting the KoB tanks.

Khorne bloodbound

So, over the last 2 weeks I have been pushing out a lot of work to try and get a decent khorne force ready for our trip to Lenton on 18 Jun.

Very nearly there and these are the bulk of my forces, with Skarr Bloodwrath and 10 blood warriors to be added.

Oi Lenton! Incoming!!

Well it seems the wheel has turned and, whisper it, painting has returned to the Foxy Von's abode.

The GoGs have fallen for Age of Sigmar so I purchased some Orruks and then Skaven.

Here's the first WiP photo....

What? I never said I was painting the stuff I recently purchased 😇
Truth be told this chap has been sat on the windowsill for an absolute age staring down at me. Believe me Bloodthirsters can definitely stare. With our upcoming trip to Lenton on the horizon I decided something new had to make the trip with my Daemons (oh stop booing Varistat 😜).

So far he's had 2 coats of Mephiston Red, a wash of Agrax Earthshade and I've just finished the first layer of Mephiston Red. And that's 2 evenings in a row for painting. Almost regular!

More to come....
